The Integration of Murrah High School

The integration of Murrah High School will be the subject of a panel discussion to be held at Millsaps College in the Recital Hall of the Gertrude C. Ford Academic Complex.
Teena Horn, Alan Huffman, and John Griffin Jones, editors of Lines Were Drawn: Remembering Court-Ordered Integration at a Mississippi High School, will participate in this
discussion, along with former classmates Robert Gibbs and Margie Cooper Pearson.

The book features recollections from more than 50 students and teachers about the integration of Murrah, beginning in 1969.

The panel discussion will begin at 5:30 pm on Thursday, April 21. Lemuria Books will have copies of the book available for purchase at the book signing after the lecture.

There will be a reception at 4:30 p.m., prior to the program.

Upcoming Event: Self-publishing Course at Millsaps College

Self-Publishing 101 – Using Createspace to Publish Your Manuscript. 
Cost: $120 (materials fee included in cost of class)
Dates: Saturdays, May 14 – 28 (3 class mtgs) 
Times: 10:00 – 11:30 a.m.

Do you have a wonderful idea for a book? Have you written a collection of poetry? Self-publishing just may be your answer. However, the process of self-publishing can be both confusing and overwhelming. This class is designed to assist people in completing the self-publishing process. Using Createspace, which is affiliated with Amazon and Kindle, this class takes students through the process step-by-step. At the end of the course, students will create a sample text and receive a free electronic copy of Life and Struggles by the instructor. 

Please note: Students should have basic computer skills, as well as a manuscript idea.
